Description

Tantallon Castle and Bass Rock, North Berwick, East lothian. Evening light on Castle ruins and Bass Rock with eider ducks on the Firth of Forth. The Castle features a frontal curtain wall flanked by round towers withan imposing central gatehouse .It dates from the 14th century and is built of rose coloured sandstone.The castle was the stronghold of the Douglas family and withstood sieges until 1651 when General Monk dismantled it during the Cromwellian occupation.
