Lying at the western end of the Mounth, just south of Balmoral Forest and north-west of Loch Muick, it has principal tops of Cac Carn Beag 3786ft and Cac Carn Mor 3768ft above the great eastern corrie featuring the"Black Spout"gulley.Famous for its reference in a poem by Lord Byron as the "steep frowning glories of dark Lochnagar"and Prince Charles's childrens story.
